Alternatives North was a major participant in the environmental assessment of the Mackenzie Gas Project through the Joint Review Panel process and has lobbied in recent years for a moratorium on approvals of horizontal fracturing–fracking–activities until a regional review of the environmental acceptability of the practice has been completed.
